Iowa .NET User Group Founder and Member Die in Crash

Eric Jacobs and Josh Trainor Both Devoted to Families, Friends and Profession

DES MOINES, Iowa – November 13, 2006 – Two members of the Iowa .NET User Group, including one of its founders, perished in a plane crash Monday evening in South Bend, Ind.

Eric Jacobs, 31, of Ankeny and Josh Trainor, 23, of Des Moines were on business for Two Rivers Marketing when their plane crashed into a cornfield just a short distance from South Bend. Five people, including the pilot and two other employees of Two Rivers, also died in the crash.

Jacobs, an Iowa State University alumni and IT leader at Two Rivers Marketing, helped found the Iowa .NET User Group in May 2004. He was a devoted family man, devout Christian and diehard Cyclone fan. He was committed to the .NET community in Des Moines and hoped members would use their knowledge for the greater good. In early 2005 and again this past fall, Jacobs spearheaded a drive to provide area non-profits with free Web sites. He leaves behind his wife, Heather, four sons and a daughter (that he never met).

Trainor, a graduate of Simpson College and IT specialist at Two Rivers Marketing, was a recent addition to the Iowa .NET User Group. He was an athlete, hunter, wakeboarder and was deeply committed to his family and friends. He was engaged and planning a 2007 wedding to fiancé, Heather Bargloff. He leaves behind a large family and his beloved dog, Brady.

A memorial fund has been established for the families of the victims. Contributions can be made to:
