OAuth is a popular authentication process that is actively used by Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, LinkedIn, and other sites that provide a means to securely access a user's resources. It provides a way for a user to control what resources and to whom they grant access and can grant that access without ever exposing their account credentials. I will be discussing both OAuth 1 and OAuth 2 workflows, showing real world implementation examples, and describing the pros and cons of OAuth.
